Data Driven Decisions
A complete learning path from zero to data-driven decision maker.
All learning pathsThis is a complete learning path — eight topics that take you from "I go with my gut" to "I design experiments, interpret data, and make decisions that are backed by evidence — and I can explain why to anyone." Everything is taught from zero, in a deliberate order, with practice after every topic and a mini project to cement each skill.
You do not need a statistics background to start. You only need curiosity and the discipline to question your own assumptions. Roughly 12–14 weeks at a few hours a day gets you through the whole path and into a portfolio worth showing employers.
How to use this path
Start with the roadmap, then follow the topics in order — each one builds directly on the previous.
- DDDM Fundamentals — what data-driven decisions are, cognitive biases, decision maturity
- KPI Frameworks — SMART KPIs, balanced scorecard, OKRs, anti-patterns
- Data Literacy — critical thinking, statistical fallacies, evaluating sources
- Experimentation — A/B testing, hypothesis testing, significance, pitfalls
- Statistical Thinking — distributions, correlation vs causation, Bayesian thinking
- Data Culture — governance, self-service, change management, data champions
- Decision Frameworks — RAPID, decision trees, weighted scoring, scenario planning
- Case Studies — Netflix, Amazon, Google, building your own case study
Skills you'll build
- Frameworks: OKRs, balanced scorecard, RAPID, PDCA, A/B testing
- Concepts: statistical significance, cognitive biases, decision matrices, cost-benefit analysis
- Work habits: hypothesis-first thinking, evidence-based recommendations, intellectual honesty
What you'll build
- A KPI framework for a real business
- An A/B test design with power analysis
- A decision matrix for a strategic choice
- A data-driven case study
- A personal data literacy portfolio
Who this is for
- Managers who want to move from intuition to evidence
- Analysts who want to understand the "why" behind their recommendations
- Anyone who makes decisions and wants to do it better
No experience required. If you can read a chart and think critically, you are ready for Topic 1.
Learning philosophy
Four rules keep the path effective. Evidence over intuition — every decision should be traceable to data or structured reasoning. Questions over answers — the quality of your decision depends on the quality of your question. Intellectual honesty — acknowledge what you don't know; quantify uncertainty. Action over analysis — the goal is better decisions, not perfect data. Follow those rules and the path ends with a portfolio of real decisions you can defend with evidence.
Suggested order
Complete Data Analysis first for the best foundation — many topics here build on it.
