Business Intelligence

A complete learning path from zero to job-ready BI Professional.

All learning paths

This is a complete learning path — nine topics that take you from "I don't know what business intelligence is" to "I can build end-to-end BI solutions: warehouse the data, transform it, model it, and deliver dashboards that drive decisions." Everything is taught from zero, in a deliberate order, with practice after every topic and a mini project to cement each skill.

You do not need a technical background to start. You only need curiosity, analytical thinking, and the discipline to do the practice. Roughly 16–18 weeks at a few hours a day gets you through the whole path and into a portfolio worth showing employers.

How to use this path

Start with the roadmap, then follow the topics in order — each one builds directly on the previous.

  1. BI Fundamentals — what BI is, data-driven culture, BI components
  2. Data Warehousing — dimensions, facts, star schema, SCD, Kimball vs Inmon
  3. ETL & Data Pipelines — extract, transform, load, tools, scheduling, error handling
  4. SQL for BI — advanced queries, window functions, CTEs, pivoting
  5. Power BI Deep Dive — data modeling, relationships, DAX basics, publishing
  6. DAX & Advanced Calculations — time intelligence, CALCULATE, variables, performance
  7. Dashboard Design — layout, color, interactivity, mobile, performance
  8. BI Strategy — governance, self-service, cloud BI, adoption
  9. Career Preparation — certifications, portfolio, interview prep

Skills you'll build

  • Tools: Power BI, SQL, DAX, Power Query, SSIS/Talend (ETL concepts)
  • Concepts: data warehousing, dimensional modeling, ETL/ELT, dashboard design
  • Work habits: data-first thinking, reproducible pipelines, performance optimization

What you'll build

  • A data warehouse schema (star/snowflake)
  • An ETL pipeline with error handling
  • A Power BI data model with DAX measures
  • A professional, interactive dashboard
  • A BI strategy document

Who this is for

  • Career changers moving into business intelligence
  • Data analysts who want to go deeper into BI engineering
  • Professionals using spreadsheets who want to level up to enterprise BI

No experience required. If you can use a spreadsheet and understand basic SQL, you are ready for Topic 1.

Learning philosophy

Four rules keep the path effective. Practice over watching — every topic ships a hands-on task; do it. Modeling over tools — you learn the concepts first, then the buttons. Performance from day one — every query and model should be built with scale in mind. End-to-end thinking — a BI professional sees the full pipeline from source to decision. Follow those rules and the path ends with a working portfolio, not just notes.

Suggested order

Complete Data Analysis first for the best foundation — many topics here build on it.
